How the majority of the current generation are like. |
Allow me to elaborate. The male generation nowadays dream of females with double D's, the hourglass body shape figure and beautiful facial features as their perfect soulmate. The opposite sex on the other hand look for a stylish, muscular, tall and handsome macho man as their life partner. Some people are far more specific. For example, I have a bro who is very conscious about skin tones. Vanilla-like fairness accepted only. My friend's friend is even weirder because he only wants Latina women. Are you one of those that expect too much?
Personally, I do admit I also have expectations. Who doesn't? We all have the ability to imagine our own fantasies or even dream about it. But the dilemma is, are you over expecting?
The resulting effects of over expectation are the depressed lonely singles out there, self obsessed people and increasing materialism. To prove that my first point, go to your Facebook homepage and see how many people are posting emo or love related statuses. They are single. Depressed. And always saying how much they want to meet the right one. Next, self obsession. Look for the anyone who recently updated their photo album. Check out their photos. You will find an absurd amount of vain photos. They just groom themselves and take photos of themselves with cliche poses. How many photos of them are natural? Without makeup? Or group photos with other friends? Ugly or funny photos are practically non-existent in order to preserve a good image. And finally, the increasing materialism. Ever heard of the 7 C's? Cash, Credit cards, Car, Condominium, Certificate, Cool and Charismatic. What women expect a man to have so he can score a date with her. Heard it from a female friend long time ago.
Words of wisdom? All I can say is, lower your expectations. Be humble. Don't act as if you are a royalty. Simple and easy advice.
Here's a cover by a very young and talented singer, Maddi Jane covering 'Price Tag' by Jessie J. The perfect song for this post.
Looks like those legendary Cs are expanding their influence from Singapore... unfortunately, cousin, I don't expect the phenomenon to change soon. The break-ups and get-togethers of the idols that youths treat as their role models are so frequent that they might as well do away from the ceremony in the church and go with a yearly marriage contract. Of course that's not the only factor. The days of a romance transcending time are stories and myths of the older generation. I appreciate your pro-activity in dispensing this advice but fortunately you are pretty much fighting a lonely war out there.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am single, but I'm not desperate and I'll wait with patience for the one who would accept me for who I am.
It won't change but at least I get to raise some awareness. HAHAHA!! The famous break-ups and get-togethers are the main income for tabloid news so it's ok because they're actually good for the economy. And your mindset are exactly what the young generations nowadays should have.
